August the first

Surprise! This is a post written on my new laptop which I bought a week ago. I'm still getting used to it, and only today managed to hook it up to the Interweb (all my posts before were composed on my trusted, but soon-to-be-handed-over-to-my-mother Dell PC that is in desperate need of a re-format). Nothing much else happened, except for the invasion of three Americans (friends of ours from Utah) who are visiting us for three weeks). I got a nice, if large, Utah t-shirt from Nancy (I stayed at her family's house when my brother, his girlfriend and I went to the US ten years ago*) which I'll have to wash before wearing (I'm hoping it'll shrink - the times when I wore L are long past. Most of my current tees are M, some even S; I assume the European sizes don't quite correspond with their American equivalents, but I have no proof).

Vaya and I talked on the phone a week ago, and we found out that August is a bad month for a meeting - when she has some time off, I don't, and vice versa. Somehow, this is symptomatic for most of our relationship. Gah.

There will be an "Irons in the Fire" report later today.

Over the past few weeks, I read quite a few books and bought even more. I'm also finally catching up on my S.C.E. reading (I'm now reading Spin), even though I didn't really keep up the one-eBook-per-day thing as I'd intended to.

Finally got to rewatch "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges" twice. I love this episode - which is why I desperately wanted to reference it directly in tFB, and I did. :D Speaking of which, I hope to hear back from the (undoubtedly rather busy) editor about whether or not he actually likes the story we wrote.

*So Steve and I were actually on the same continent TWICE already. Weird.
  • You guys will be hearing from me some time in the next couple of weeks -- I'll be e-mailing you from Scotland or Ireland, but I will be e-mailing you. *grin*
  • Yeah, but I would have been like ten or something. I am not even sure that counts.

    Steve
